Mariela Cano is an associate attorney at Your Insurance Attorney, and works in the civil litigation department with a focus on Nursing Home Negligence. She joined the firm in 2018.
Ms. Cano graduated with her Juris Doctor degree from St. Thomas University School of Law in 2018. While at St. Thomas, Ms. Cano was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society, where she competed in the 2018 Thirty-Third Annual Jerome Prince Memorial Evidence Competition in Brooklyn, New York. Ms. Cano was also a Staff Editor for the Journal of Complex Litigation and Senator for the Student Bar Association. She also received two Honors CALI Book Awards in Criminal Procedure and Real Estate, Development, and Finance. She was fortunate enough to have interned under Justice Robert J. Luck prior to her internship with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida – Career Criminal Division. Prior to attending St. Thomas University School of Law, Ms. Cano received her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science from Florida International University.
Ms. Cano was born in Santiago, Chile and raised in Miami, Florida by Peruvian immigrant parents. Ms. Cano is resilient in advocating for her clients. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
